Go To Post     Welcome to the FRENCH KNOT The FRENCH KNOT is a lovely decorative stitch that forms a three dimensional dot. It adds texture and dimension as a stand-alone stitch and when stitched repeatedly in a shape, can create a motif in and of itself - imagine an image of the classic hanging clump of grapes, for example, in which each grape is its own FRENCH KNOT. And it looks more complicated than it actually is. A FRENCH KNOT is created by bringing the thread up through the fabric and then wrapping the thread around the needle and drawing the needle back down through the fabric. I was taught that the RSN (Royal School of Needlework) that you wrap the thread around the needle twice, any more than that and the stitch is no longer a FRENCH KNOT, rather it is then a BULLION KNOT. And that, friends, is a stitch for another day :) #handembroidery #embroidery #needlework #frenchknots #stitchdemo #embroiderydemos #embroiderersofinstagram #crewelembroidery #needleworkartist #embroiderprocess #handembroideryvideo #broderie #hoopart #fiberart #embroiderydemonstrations #embroiderydemonstration
